Mission of the Month: Remedies Renewing Lives

The mission of Remedies is to support victims of domestic violence as they begin the recovery process and plan for a future free of abuse. As victims regain inner strength and rebuild self-esteem, Remedies is with them every step of their journey and provides a continuum of care, which allows them to transition from victim to survivor. Remedies offers case management, education, advocacy, and emergency shelter for victims of domestic violence. Remedies’ shelter is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, and all our domestic violence services are free. Remedies is committed to protecting the privacy of clients, and strictly adheres to all applicable federal and state laws that protect such confidentiality. In January, we will be collecting personal care items, particularly the following items which are in urgent need:

  • hand sanitizer
  • bottles
  • sippy cups
  • hair brushes
  • nose aspirators
  • underwear (children & adult sizes)
  • sanitary products (pads, tampons)

Reverse Offering
A huge THANK YOU to our OSLC family who contributed to December’s reverse food offering. A total of 861 lbs of food and 60 lbs of pet food/supplies was donated to the Rock River Food Pantry.

Angel Tree
On behalf of Lutheran Social Services of Illinois, I want to thank Our Savior’s for the generous gift of funds and Angel Tree presents (for 150 children). These gifts help to provide support to foster children, foster parents, clients of prison ministry, seniors, and others in Rockford who are served by LSSI every day.
